Konexus is committed to making updates to the messaging platform to ensure that all recipients understand the message being received. We believe that accessibility for all is fundamental, and we strive to make our platform accessible to anyone.
We'll continue to invest in making sure all messages delivered to our customers are accessible to every member of our user base. This update includes a new requirement for an administrator uploading a previously used image or a new image uploaded from their device to have alternative text listed. This will ensure that the recipient understands what an image might be if they are visually impaired.
For Social Media:
When adding an attachment for Social Media, the screen has changed slightly.
Uploading a new image will be at the top left. Selecting an existing image will be on the left using a radio button for selection. Once the image has been uploaded or selected from the device, you will see a red indicator that Alternative Text is required for Images and mut be at least 5 characters long.
Once text has been added, it will not have to be done again unless you'd like to change the description or alternative text.
Once an image has been saved with alternative text, this will not be required again. For images that are saved before this requirement, alternative text must be added in order to be used. It will be saved with the alternative text for the next use.
Note: This change also allows images to be saved for Social Media within a Template!
From the Rich Text Editor on the Alert Form:
Uploading an image to the Rich Text Editor on the Alert Form is a similar experience.
Click Browse Server. Once the file upload section populates, the experience to add the image and alternative text will be the same as Social Media.
